Sharon Bailey is in her 18th season of managing women’s softball programs. Sharon was head coach for 14 years.  Under her direction, success has become an institution. Many senior Carolina Comet’s have earned athletic scholarships.

In 2001, under the direction of Appalachian State’s Willie Rucker, former professional head coach of the Carolina Diamonds, Sharon assisted Rucker in accomplishing the fundamentals in transitioning from professional to college level for: ASU’s women’s softball “start-up” program. Her complete knowledge of rules and regulations, extensive winning record,  technical ” eye” for player evaluation, expertise teaching fundamentals, personal-player communication (ages 8-18) and most-of-all, love for the game, makes her one of the most accomplished coaches in fastpitch today!

Sharon “connects” in communicating with players and “brings out their best”. The players and parents always know where she stands, Sharon is fair and as she puts it: “there is no “I” in TEAM”. Sharon is an expert communicator and her experience is invaluable for recruiting players from the: AAU, ASA, NSA, and USSSA leagues.  After finishing fourth in the NSA World Series Eastern Regional, the Carolina Comets ten and under team finished the 2001 season by: winning an automatic bid, with eleven other finalists to the inaugural NSA Fastpitch Super World Series, Kansas City, MO. Sharon Bailey, truly a professional!
